She was always available. And it was costing her.

Here's something I see a lot in dating — and it's one of those patterns that's easy to miss because it comes from a genuinely good place:
Over-availability.
Responding instantly. Rearranging plans. Always being free, always flexible, always accommodating — because you want things to work and you're showing up with your whole heart.
It makes complete sense. But here's what it can quietly signal to a man who's still deciding:
There's no one home to impress.
When you're available for everyone, all the time, without any signal that your time and energy are things you value — a man doesn't feel chosen. He feels convenient.
And convenient doesn't inspire pursuit. It doesn't create the conditions for him to step up, show real effort, or decide you're someone worth choosing deliberately.
This isn't about playing games or manufacturing distance. It's about something much simpler:
Do you actually have a life you're living — one that he's being invited into?
A woman with a full life, who doesn't instantly reshape herself around every new man, who has things she's protecting her energy for — that woman is compelling. Not because she's withholding, but because she's whole.
There's a real difference between:
- Being available because you're genuinely free vs. canceling your own plans to accommodate his
- Responding warmly when he reaches out vs. dropping everything the moment he does
- Being easy to be with vs. being easy to take for granted
The first in each pair is healthy openness. The second quietly tells him your time isn't worth protecting — and if you don't protect it, he won't either.
The shift isn't about becoming less warm or less generous.
It's about extending that warmth from a full place — not from a place of constantly making yourself smaller and more available in hopes that this time, it'll be enough.
You deserve to be chosen deliberately. Not just because you were the easiest yes in the room.
Have you ever caught yourself over-extending in early dating — and what helped you pull back?
Warmly,
KC
